I'd really love to see Celebrimbor and Annatar in the Second Age...and maybe Gil-Galad too...although it would be weird seeing him without his Istelion! ;-)

Not the Silmarillion, that would be a separate agreement if it happened at all, but the Appendices are open it seems

I'm always baffled by what is and isn't on the table, rights-wise, but if Christopher T has resigned, does that mean we could get an adaptation of the Silm (or parts of it)?

Article on The One Ring.net - Christopher Tolkien has resigned as director of the Tolkien Estate. This could change 'everything' to quote.

Royd Tolkien just confirmed it on his twitter account. No details other than that.

I should think they'll have actors falling over themselves for this. If it's done well the fandom will go boom!

The One Ring.net is a good place to get the latest.

I found the link. It all seems very vague atm. I look forward to hearing more once they've got news on story, etc.

I am a 26-year-old Finnish student with a long-standing love for J.R.R. Tolkien's works. I first became interested in the Middle-Earth legendarium in 2001 when I got a ticket to the movie The Fellowship Of The Ring as a Christmas present. I was instantly fascinated and immediately read the book, closely followed by the Silmarillion. After that there was no return.

I first started to write fanfiction in 2008. As of 8 August this year I have written 11 stories, an essay and one poem, all of which I intend to post here in a more polished and rewritten form, as well as anything new I happen to write. I strive to build and maintain a style unique to me but it still can perhaps be said to have echoes of Alexandre Dumas, Karl May and H. Rider Haggard, all authors that have given me hours upon hours of excitement during the last ten years.

My interests include but are not limited to:

-history in general (I actually study it in university)
-military history and weaponry from Antiquity to the present day
-classical music, with Sibelius, Wagner and Tchaikovsky as some of my favourites
-literature, particularly 19th Century novels
-I was a Boy Scout for fourteen years, which time taught me to love the beauty and peace of nature
-I've been a private in the mechanized infantry for six months (military service of 6 to 12 months is obligatory for males here), an experience that was mainly positive and admittedly reflects into a few of my stories set in Gondor

I appreciate reviews very much and would like to receive constructive criticism so that I can hone my skills.

If anyone needs a beta-reader, feel free to ask me. I have beta'd only one story this far, though, so I'm pretty inexperienced. The areas I could be most helpful in are historical details and characterization. I'm willing to help with stories of most genres and ratings. Slash and graphic sex are my only exceptions since, frankly, those aren't really my cup of tea and consequently I don't really understand that genre.

Title: Night Under The Sun by Formegil
Rated: Mature [Reviews - 9]
Summary: During a visit to Emyn Arnen, a remark from Pippin awakens a decades-old memory in Aragorn's mind. During the evening he tells the tale to his friends: During Aragorn's years as Thorongil, Steward Ecthelion has commissioned him as a lieutenant in a battalion posted at a small town. One night the corsairs of Umbar attack and drag a friend of Aragorn's away as a prisoner. Shortly afterwards Aragorn is sent on a mission to spy on the doings of the Haradians. Aragorn now has a twin goal: to complete his mission and to free his friend.

Journeying ever farther into the south, Aragorn gets wind of a mysterious buyer of slaves deep in the jungles near the Girdle of Arda. He proceeds to investigate the matter, in hopes of finding his friend and learning what the persons in question are up to. However, he soon finds that he has plunged into trouble that is easier to get into than to get out of. A deadly struggle follows, in which Aragorn is hard put to it to survive.

Rated Mature for violence and some horror themes.
