Hi, Karlmir! How are you? Yeah, I got some new ideas and you know what it means - the itch to write goes away only by typing :D Also, maybe I will rewrite one or two of my earliesr fics.

Awww, so nice! :) I somehow missed this story before.

I love how the device travelled to Middle-earth with Idril, and how she gave it to her son. The whole last paragraph is so special.

Author's Response: Thank you, Ellynn. This is very early - only the 17th day of B2ME, so I had only been writing and posting for 17 days. This may be the first peek at Helyanwe - she really appeared during B2ME. She came out and then wouldn't leave until after I had done some serious work on her story during NaNoWriMo in November. Crazy how she took over my life for those months. Now she is content (for a while) to sit in the background for a while. I know that is temporary though. I appreciate your having read through and reviewing very much. - Erulisse (one L)

Very sad and melacholic, but at the same time, nice story.

Just one correction. Melkor is not a Maia, but a Vala. ;)

Author's Response: Thank you Ellynn. I like to explore different venues of Middle-Earth, preferring to create my own OC's rather than populate stories full of Tolkien's characters, though they are secondary. I like exploring deep and dark issues. This is part of an on-going series of mine, which as of yet has not been uploaded here, but hopefully will be soon. Also, thanks for pointing out the mistake, it has been duly changed!

If I have the time to read, and if I like the story, then surely I have the time to write a word or two. It takes less time to review than to read.

Great essay; I agree with all you say.

Author's Response: It takes less time to review than to read.

Yes it does, Ellynn. Well, usually, unless it's a long review. I do think reviewers are the exception rather than the rule although I have not really analyzed that properly; I just go by click counts against the number of reviews, which in some cases is quite mind-boggling, especially older sites where stories have been up some few years.

Title: The Lucky Arrow by Karlmir Stonewain

Yay, Egypt! :) I love how you intertwine "ME history" with our own real history. :) And I appreciate all the effort of your research and how you describe the building of the pyramids. This is beautiful and educative. :)

Author's Response: It's the archaeologist and Egyptologist in me, I'm afraid. I was tempted to have him write the one piece of graffiti that exists in the Great Pyramid, it's way up and quite hard to get to, but I held back on the temptation :-) Thanks so much for letting me know that you are enjoying this series. I have loved writing it and am looking forward to putting up the next chapters soon. - Erulisse (one L)

Another interesting and intriguiging explanation of things in the real history. :) Nicely done.

Yay, astronomy! :)

Lovely chapter. As for the Sun being the fruit of Laurelin that circled around Arda - well, it is said so in Silmarillion. I like your explanation that Maglor thinks that the Valar at some point rearranged the objects (and therefore the Earth/Arda goes around the Sun). Perfect little remark. :)

Author's Response: Astronomy rocks! If the Valar basically made Arda, they certainly have the power to rearrange things, or to pull the wool away from our eyes so that we can see more clearly. More astronomy (in a manner of speaking) to come in a later chapter. Thanks for your comments :-) - Erulisse (one L)

...beautiful death.

This is contradictory, isn't it? Yet, it works perfectly. A great use of words. Really well done.

Author's Response: It is completely contradictory and yet so true. The mushroom cloud of an atomic bomb is strikingly beautiful, yet what it is designed to do is so cunningly evil, it's the modern day equivalent of Sauron's Ring. That which everyone wants to give them courage in the face of their enemies, yet cannot use because it will destroy whoever wields it. Thanks for your review, I really appreciate it. - Erulisse (one L)

So, this is the end of the story. All in all, a very nice look into Maglor's long life, with many interesting vignettes. Thanks for sharing. :)

Author's Response: Thanks, Ellynn. I hope you had a chance to read Striding With the Lion. I remembered, to my horror, that I had it out of order and slapped it in late yesterday afternoon, moving the other chapters to correspond to the correct timeframes. I had a lot of fun with this series, I think I'll do more in time. I appreciate your reading and reviews very much! - Erulisse (one L)

I hope you will update soon.

P.s. Sorry for asking, but how is "C" in Cierre pronounced, then? I am not sure if I got everything correct. *blush* Like "ch" in church, or...?

P.s. I loved the detail about going to pee. ;) I mean, people in books&movies never go to toilet, which isn't very convincing, is it, so I loved that you had remember this little, but important detail.

Author's Response: Thank you! I try to think of every wee detail (that's a pun you, as a non-native English speaker, might not get; 'wee' means 'little' in the dialect of Scotland and North-East England, as well as being another word for pee).
