I was a maths teacher too! A really soul-destroying job sometimes, because many children arrived at school already afraid of the subject.

It is sad how a bad teacher can make a child's time at school a misery. When I was teaching I was very conscious that even the most casual, throwaway comment could wound.

I still remember my maths teacher. Pasty faced and smelled of onions. I was traumatised, especially when he told my parents the only thing I was good at was sports.

I hate hearing about teachers who ruined a child's interest or confidence or curiosity- as a teacher myself, it actually hurts to think how someone has done that. It doesn't happen much now.

"Yes!" I smile, "This is my life and the light is you. My way out of the darkness. See how beautiful it is! See how it transforms this place. You do that Elrohir, for me. You transform my life. Do you understand? What skill you have! None can come close to you......not for me."

.........
Such a stunningly beautiful piece of writing and what a beautiful way for Legolas to explain his. Love. Amazing I have loved this story from start to finish.

Author's Response: What an awesome review! It made my day, I am so glad you are liking the story. My Elrohir doesn't think much of himself...it is one of his weak points. He compares himself to his brother and thinks he comes up short. It has been really difficult for Legolas to get him to understand how he sees him, Hopefully this will have helped get the message across!

Aww they're falling ever so sweetly in love. This ugh being men it's taking them a while to realise. Love the way you describe Elrohir with his Mithras eyes. Yum. Also the image of Elrohir falling onto Legolas had me laughing out loud. Can't wait for more.

Author's Response:

They are rather endearing, aren't they? I decided that they needed a knock on the head to realise they were in love so that's what I gave Legolas. Unfortunately it might take Elrohir a bit longer to work it out!

I loved this new twist you've given to the orcs. The idea that they haven't lost their immortality and can live to great ages is very intriguing. You've portrayed the Orc in a way I've not seen before - you can see and feel that this Orc truly had elvish origins. It was rather creepy that it could sense Elladans fea.
Also I loved the interaction between the twins. Lovely story. I really enjoyed this!

Author's Response:

I believe the hint that the Orcs can a live long time comes from 'The Return of the King', as far as I know. Apparently there're two orcs keeping conversation and hinting at past Ages but I haven't read up on it yet. Even if it isn't true, I ran away with it. It's simply to tempting. Or a way too easy way to make our elvish uncomfortable.

And I'm relieved that you liked the interaction between E&E. I wasn't sure if I got their character right.

Aaah this is exquisite Cheeky. I love how wild and fey Legolas is in this completely free and unfettered. And poor Elrohir rushing round after him trying in vain to make it all better. Love them! And I like how Legolas goes running back to Thranduil. I like to think that they would have had a much closer bond than in the films.
I eagerly await the next update!

Author's Response: So glad you like it. Legolas is wild so I am pleased that came through, especially when he is around the sea. Poor Elrohir indeed, trying to fix it all up but he is just going the wrong way about it. I do see Thranduil and Legolas as close, not at all like the films.mTheanduil can't help either though at the moment. But at least Legolas knows he loves him.

Oh my Naledi I'm hooked already. I look forward to seeing how you interpret Thranduils (odd in my opinion) requests that Legolas seeks out Strider. But poor Leggy I feel so bad for him - you've conveyed his grief so well. I can't wait for the next installment

Author's Response:

Ah, so you thought it odd about Thranduil's advice re Strider, too. Yes, I thought that seemed out of character, considering he was so isolationist. I have my own theory about his intentions, which this story might make clear...

Thanks for reviewing!

I love the idea of the gardens - a wood elf like Legolas would really appreciate them. And your humour! I could not stop laughing over the cow sitting on Thranduil- that was too good!

Author's Response: The cow sitting on Thranduil popped into my head as I was writing - it was too good not to include. I am pleased you like the gardens in the trees and that you are enjoying the story, Fin x

Beautifully written as I've come to expect from yourself. I think I've mentioned before how much I love your OC Ithildim over on Fanfic.net but I'll say it again. I love him so much! Ugh - move aside Legolas. Haha. He just appeals to me so much. I love the way you've written the two of them here - very tender. A nice touch!

Author's Response:

Delighted to read that someone who loved my "non-slash" Ithildim is just as fond of my "slash" Ithildim! There's always the worry that folks will jump ship when suddenly GAY. But elves are complicated, I think, and they are people, after all. And yes, Ithildim is a sweetheart and gives Legolas a run fo rhis money. Happy to see yo udescribe them as "tender' as that was precisely the goal! Thank you for taking the time to review, Kimic!
