Article on The One Ring.net - Christopher Tolkien has resigned as director of the Tolkien Estate. This could change 'everything' to quote.

Royd Tolkien just confirmed it on his twitter account. No details other than that.

I should think they'll have actors falling over themselves for this. If it's done well the fandom will go boom!

I found the link. It all seems very vague atm. I look forward to hearing more once they've got news on story, etc.

Chapter notes:
Disclaimer - no, not mine. all Tolkiens.

Just a short plunge into the character that is Thranduil. I've always held sort of a fascination over him... please enjoy, and as always reviews are greatly appreciated :)
The thoughts of a King

What is it to be king? A leader of proud Elves, who would stand defiant in the face of the impossible, who would trust you to the bitter end. Father, brother, uncle, saviour and defender to those under your command. I give hope to those who fear the worst. I withstand the test of time because I must. My own feelings mean nothing, my people and my kingdom come first and foremost. Always.

When I stand alone on cold nights and stare at the stars I don’t think of happy times. Not of joyous memories of friends and family. I think of Elves lost in battles and wars I wish we could have avoided; friends who will never again see the stars of Arda and wonder at their beauty.

Peace never lasts forever. One thing I wish I hadn’t learned during the ages. Already I can feel the shift in power, the darkness that lurks in the forgotten corners of the forest grows. Soon I must make tough decisions and bear the consequences, the arguments that will ignite in the council chambers, and the guilt of knowing that I am responsible for the deaths of my own.

What do people think of my father? Was he a rash leader who sentenced three quarters of his army to death because of his pride? Or was he a king pushed to the limit in an unthinkable situation? I’d like to see what Elrond or the late King Gil-Galad would have done; both of them heirs to a legacy that was doomed from the start.

Already the once green forests of the woodland weaken, wildlife dwindles and the trees, some as old as the elves themselves stand crooked under the dying sunlight...

But I know we will endure, we will stand defiant and fight for our home, our lives and our loves. The blood of old Doriath runs through our veins, the pride of our wild Silvan kin fills our hearts, and the Greenwood holds a special place in the very soul of every Elf who calls it home.
