I suppose they'd have a heart attack if I told them I'm writing fanfic in English these days. *g*

experience like you, Alpha, but with English: two English teachers told me I should try to get a job where I wouldn't need foreign languages as they judged me too little giftd in languages.

My father was a maths teacher, too, which wasn't always easy for me, *g* - my classmates considered it as uncool in a major way to be daugther of a maths teacher. And I made a similar

Wow- Naledi- you were Maths!! I am an English teacher and so agree. I am so careful - don't always get it right but try to make sure every interaction is positive.

I was a maths teacher too! A really soul-destroying job sometimes, because many children arrived at school already afraid of the subject.

It is sad how a bad teacher can make a child's time at school a misery. When I was teaching I was very conscious that even the most casual, throwaway comment could wound.

I still remember my maths teacher. Pasty faced and smelled of onions. I was traumatised, especially when he told my parents the only thing I was good at was sports.

Most of my teachers were lovely - there were just a couple that were not nice.

I hate hearing about teachers who ruined a child's interest or confidence or curiosity- as a teacher myself, it actually hurts to think how someone has done that. It doesn't happen much now.

Summary:

Not only the Three survive Sauron's fall, and not all darkness is vanquished. Sequel to Sons of Thunder. Warnings: loads of slash, dark lust, non-con/dubious consent, Sons of Feanor, dodgy Science.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

The One Ring has been destroyed and Sauron banished to the Dark with his own Master, Morgoth. But not all the Rings were destroyed with it; the Three made by Celebrimbor to counter the One are free now and there are artefacts still in the ruined cities of both Mordor and Eregion. And the fate of those lesser Rings is not known...yet. Against this, Legolas and Elrohir struggle in their new found love and not all is smooth. By any means.

Story notes:

This follows Sons of Thunder in the sequence More Dangerous, Through a Glass, Sons of Thunder.

Quick reminder of the story so far:
In Glass, Glorfindel and Erestor find an ancient artefact, a Mirror, in ruined Phellanthir (Celebrimbor's ancient city of learning and curvë). The Mirror is an interface with the Eternal Dark, the dimension into which Morgoth has been cast and the Sons of Feänor swore they would be cast if they did not win back the Silmarils. In this story, Elrohir offers himself to save Elladan from a morgul blade and Angmar twists Elrohir's memory of finding their mother, Celebrian so it becomes darker and cruel. Angmar also twists Elrohir's burgeoning desire for Legolas and this darker and cruel desire is what colours Elrohir's relationship with Legolas throughout Sons of Thunder, which tells their story as the War of the Ring progresses.
