Hi, Sin! My latest short story and the next one were inspired by this rotten winter weather.

Snow is in tomorrow's forecast here. The storm will last through Wednesday afternoon. About 8" of snow is expected. I planned ahead and did my grocery shopping this morning.

I'd forgotten how much I loved this little character piece. Reading it now, it feels like a preview into the line of thought that spawned Dawn, though it works beautifully by itself too. The glimpses of Orc-culture you give us are fascinating; I think you're still the only writer in the fandom to deal with them like this, and even though I've been reading you for years it's still refreshing and exciting.

I love this :) A very interesting orc's point of view. She seems almost human and I was not sure if she was definitely an Orc till the end, although I was fairly sure.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I guess that's kind of the point, really, to question how "human" she is or isn't (and by extension how "human" Orcs are). I'm glad you liked it. :-)

This is a fascinating glimpse of Orc culture, and one where they are much more three-dimensional and sympathetic than usual.

Thank you so much for sharing this.

Author's Response: You're very welcome, Alquien. I very much enjoy reinterpreting certain parts of Tolkien's world and Orcish culture is one of them. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :-)
