Very interesting dialogue, well done, nice story.
Author's Response: Thanks! I actually feared the story being 90 % dialogue would be tiring, but apparently not.
Athrabeth is fascinating reading, yes.
The beauty of Tolkien's work in my opinion is that it offers much food for thought on things like holiness, mortality etc.
It definitely does!
I can very much see such a conversation having taken place, Good work!
Author's Response: Thanks! Admittedly, this piece was heavily inspired by the Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth, but with less heavy metaphysical apparatus (since my characters are rank-and-file warriors, not loremasters) and with more mephasis on "practical" conclusions. Also, my take is somewhat less idealistic than Tolkien's. I'd imagine that the points in both dialogues and many more besides would have been discussed in Middle-Earth wherever Elves and Men were in close contact, with wildly differing conclusions being drawn by the participants. The beauty of Tolkien's work in my opinion is that it offers much food for thought on things like holiness, mortality etc.
