Re-reading this again because it's wonderful :D

‘Well, not quite as easily as any man.’ His father’s mouth curved to one side. ‘You always healed quickly. Even after Melkor had you.’

Bloody hell, Sauron, you absolute bastard! I'm surprised Van didn't catch him with a right hook.

‘In this reality, at least.’ Vanimórë did not move, walls up, thinking.

‘Ah well, yes.’ His father sat back. ‘Who can tell what may have happened in others?’

Straight-faced, Vanimórë said: ‘Who indeed?

...wait, does Sauron know about the Portal!? (Oh gosh, I hope Summerland's Sauron doesn't work it out...although he may well do...)

I love Van's conversation with Coldagnir. The affection there, Coldagnir's gentle teasing, is wonderful. And seeing him with Elgalad, knowing what I know now, is so sad.

But when I think of the trauma and fear Claire went through, I find if hard to forgive myself.’

‘Perhaps that is not for thee to do.’

‘Thou art right, it is for her to forgive, and Maglor also.

Hmm. I don't think, if they meet again, he will have too many problems with Claire. Maglor, on the other hand...

I adore getting Van's thoughts on Sören.

Watching thee for a long time. And I could spend from dusk till dawn with thee, until thou couldst not stand unaided, and were drained dry of seed. I would find out everything that arouses thee, that melts thee into a mess of need and I would meet that need and match it and draw thee into the birth of stars.

*melts*

And it ends on such a wonderful note of hope and promise. I love it.

Author's Response: Oh, lord. Flip. Don’t make me think about whether Sauron knows about the Portal. I just sat up rigid in my chair.

He can’t get to it, currently. But if it was there at the beginning, as I believe it was, then he could have seen it back then, before he followed Melkor.

I hope Claire will understand, well, having read that she said she would have accepted his offer, I think it’ll be okay, but Maglor....I am pretty sure in any reality there is a lot of tension there, lol!

Thank you and oh, no! because now you’ve made me think about Sauron and the Portal. Argh!
