Sounds like we've got some good new fics/updates on their way if everyone is writing this weekend:)
02/15/19 10:13 pm
I've been working so hard to get them done, that I'm done in the process.
02/15/19 10:12 pm
That sounds like my kind of weekend. Spiced! Hopefully I can have some fics finished for everyone to read. Fingers crossed. :)

Similar I think! It's meant to be cloudy here but no rain forecast so I think a walk to start with, then some writing time

Not really, but the weather is supposed to be quite mild and nice. Probably relax and write and go for a couple of walks. You?

Oh wow, how powerful. I love the finwion grandchildren interacting. We don't get enough of it! And this was beautiful and haunting. Tyelkormo is one of those characters I have a soft spot for. Ah , love it!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it - and I agree, we don't see enough of them ;) I intend to rectify that. I have a soft spot for Tyelkormo too - I know he went way off the rails, but Huan wouldn't adopt someone who was completely evil/hopeless! Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate you commenting.

This was lovely, Narya!

A bit of a backstory to 'Winter's Lease.'

Now this is how I love to see all the House of Finwe. Treating each other with the type of love and kindness and respect. Just as Tyelkormo treats Findarato, more like a little brother than a cousin. They are so sweet together.

Isn't it funny {strange} that young Findarato thought he was seeing Nelyo being tortured by Findekano, until Tyelko explained that maybe what he was seeing was not quite as it seemed.
What appears to be something horrible at first glance could be something the complete opposite in reality. I would liken it to someone from medieval times visiting our time frame and reporting back on what they had seen.

I love that you're exploring their close friendship at the beginning and how that would've changed after Alqualonde and the Helcaraxe. It struck me that poor Findarato was betrayed twice by Tyelko. Maybe Findarato is just a very forgiving person or maybe the love and kinship he held for Tyelko in the past had him reason that the Tyelkormo Findarato knew was a kind generous soul and therefore deserved a second chance.

Woops! Waffling! :)

I wish everyone would write more on him. :)

Author's Response: Hi Gabriel! Yay, I'm happy you enjoyed it :) yes, I wonder what someone from Way Back When would make of our world now; it would look like magic, I suppose. I do enjoy these two, they just seem to write themselves; I have a few more scenes and stories in my head for them, including a look at what happened with the ship burning, and how they dealt with it afterwards. You're not waffling, I love talking about these characters! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely comments.

Another terrific story, Narya- I know we agreed to write something with Finrod- I will get to it but I just need to get the next chap posted. I love this oblique look at the rescue scene from the eagle's pov too- beautiful relationship between Finrod and Celegorm too- suggests the reason he goes to Nargorthrond later as well. Love the scene with Nelyo and Findekano:)

Author's Response: Oh, we said some time in 2018...you've got ages! :D I just had the idea for this when I was on holiday and ran with it while I had time to get it down on paper. I'm glad you liked the relationship between Finrod and Celegorm; I've got quite attached to them. I was saying to Nelya, at some point I must explore what led to the betrayal, and how it made Celegorm feel to do it. The Silm has him being all smirky and pleased with himself, Loki-style, but I'm pretty sure that's not how it would feel for someone to betray the cousin they'd known and loved for hundreds of years - even if they felt they didn't have a choice. Anyway, waffling, as usual. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment, Ziggy! :) look forwards to reading your next update when it comes.

What a brutal vision for a young Finrod, Narya. And I love how kind Celegorm was to him. I think when it does come to pass, then Finrod and Celegorm will both remember this!

Author's Response: Oh, definitely :) I can see it in my mind's eye now, the significant looks as they join the dots...I'm glad you liked Celegorm here. For some reason I've developed a soft spot for him; he never used to be a favourite! I'm blaming you and your gorgeous Celegorm/Finrod for that :D thank you for reading and taking the time to comment. *Hugs*

Oh Narya I like this so much. I like the relationship between Tyelko and Findarato--the growing realization that Fin isn't a child anymore on Tyelko's part and the comfortable way they have with each other.

What a devastating image--especially in peaceful Tirion. And obviously how he would interpret it--Kanó attacking Nelyo for unknown reasons. I like this glimpse of his skill at foresight and how so much is foreshadowed, even Tyelko's influence of Fin.

And name dropping Olorin!

There is a kindness in Tyelko here that I really like. He's out of his depth but he feels a responsibility to Fin and does his best. Good choice to keep the vision to themselves.

I really liked this.

I'm itching to write some Finrod now but ugh I've got a cast on my left hand which makes keyboard my near impossible--posting comments with one hand is about all I can manage. :(

Author's Response: Oh no, what happened to your left hand??? :( I'm so glad you liked it though. I have had in my headcanon for a long time that Celegorm and Finrod were close friends - would Finrod have been so quick to welcome him into Nargothrond otherwise, not to mention letting him stay there for about ten years? Anyway, I'm really pleased you picked up on Tyelko's kindness. Maybe I'm too soft on him, but I see him as being essentially good-natured, albeit hot-headed, and driven into terrible deeds by the Oath. At some point I plan to write a longer fic exploring exactly what drove the betrayal in Nargothrond, but I have a few projects to work on before that. And yes, Olorin - it says in the Silmarillion that he didn't often go openly among the Elves, but I imagine he spoke to some, and I like to think that he and Maglor would have been good friends, hence some of my other fics. Thank you so much for commenting, Nelya, especially when you're nursing an injury - I hope you feel better soon!
