What a bitter-sweet read! It was painful to read these two’s relationship deteriorating. Even in just these short scenes, so much heartache was present, especially the last one where Fingolfin didn’t even allow himself to hope that Feanor still carried enough about him and his to forge Idril a sword.
You did a fantastic job with this one. I really like it!
I honestly wanted to write something ... well, not fluffy but less tragic. An everyday interaction in which the usual hate and suspicion is just too inefficient for Feanor's taste. But I couldn't leave the story like this after I got the idea for the last two scenes. Even if it meant destroying a part of Fingolfin's soul.
Ah Feanor came good in the end. Of course he wouldn't forget a promise to protect his brothers children/ grandchildren. Feanor may be many things but oath breaker he is not!
Lovely.....and sad at the same time!
Yeah, when I wrote this it never occured to me that Feanor woulnd't make this sword. Of course, giving it to Fingolfin himself was too much to ask for, even it might have mended some bridges but he was mostly doing it for Idril.
Still, as much as I love the ending, I'm just as sad that I can only write angst with these two. (Good reason to try again)
