I'm glad I made you smile :D
These dwarves are so infuriating at times, I totally understand Talliya here...
Author's Response: Oh and Dwalin is NOT a quick study! Still, there will be some fun to be had! I have a few more chapters ready to go and the rest with my Beta. Hopefully I will get them back before I run out of finished chapters! Plan to update today...
Hanging in there? Always, when I like something :D You're very welcome!
Talliya and Dwalin are so cute...
Author's Response: Thanks! I really appreciate that and so needed it (been one of those couple of weeks. Somehow something always seems to get in the way of my posting and writing--damn real life. They are a cute couple...but, umm, he's still a stubborn dwarf with a lot to learn...you'll want to smack him by the time I'm done. :)
YAY! I kind of saw it coming, but it was sweet nonetheless...
So this child is like... 3/4th dwarf? And he already has a bit of beard! :D (I wish I could draw, the image in my head is strangely adorable)
Author's Response: Wow! your read quick! Yah, a little predicable but, well something has to soften the old dwarf (Yah right--it's not over yet!) I read that dwarves are born with facial hair so...odd as it seems, the little guys got a bit of a 5 o'clock shadow. And yes, he is 3/4 dwarf. Thanks again for reading; your comments make me smile :D ~G
Wow, the whole Hobbit sequence in one chapter! I am looking forward to the happy reunion... (There will be a happy reunion, right? Right?)
Author's Response: ~lol~ And it took Peter Jackson 3 movies! now, as for the story--well, there will be a reunion but I must point out that time, and life, wait for no man...or dwarf.
Yay, more chapters! Poor Talliya... (although yay again for make-up sex)
Author's Response: Really sorry it took so long to update! Time is really flying by over here! Thanks for sticking with me though and another update will post soon (need to do the corrections) From here on in, there are Hobbit spoilers...and, yah, poor Talliya...*smirk*
Ooh, I do wonder what is going to come next... Talliya and Dwalin are a cute pair...
Author's Response: Ah, yes, a cute couple indeed...however, by now you know things never go that smoothly in my little patch of Arda....mwahahaha...
YAY! It's a classic that never bores: the traumatic event followed by awesome sex! :D
Author's Response: Why thank you! Something to be said for why classics are classic :} Though it was a bit contrite at first, but given they way I am portraying dwarf relationships it seemed to fit. Dwalin's is no quivering virgin but the idea of emotions tying into sex is very new to him. Thanks for reading and hopefully I can get the next set of corrections made and post sooner than last time!
Another awesome chapter! I love how their relationship evolves, and Dwalin is such a nice dwarf, arranging for her to have extra food... (Also, I'm curious about Talliya's mother's diary now xD)
Author's Response: Dwalin comes across as on of the fieriest...but it is my experience that those who have such loyalty, determination, and fighting spirit are often the gentlest (no weak mind you) souls. Watching the movies and his small interactions with other less prominent characters made me think. Glad you like his character. The diary was a thought that I had but then felt weird about it....a daughter reading about her parents private life *shivers*...still, it will pop up now and again. Now, I hope you have read the Hobbit (would hate to spoil that ending) and as this takes place a bit before that---well, you mentioned trouble before...heheheh...enjoy!
I certainly enjoyed! I wonder what will happen now; I have the odd feeling that something troublesome will happen but I have no clue as to what it might be...
Author's Response: Ahh, you are catching on to my style...things will happen for better or worse. I love a good surprise and bittersweet is my middle name! At least now you have some idea (maybe) of her paternal traits. More soon, I promise. Thanks ~G
YAY! *cheers happily*
I love Talliya, she's so kind and thoughtful, simply reading about her gives me a warm and homy feeling! ;)
Author's Response: Thank you. I always worry about dreaded MarySues--I want her to be believable. I am old fashioned, the daughter of Slovenian immigrants; I learned old fashion hospitality. Come to my house and you will not leave hungry! I channeled that for Talliya. But don't worry, she's not a meek thing...hehhehhehheh...
I enjoyed it very much!
Talliya seems like an interesting person... (although I do am wondering what "paternal traits" scared off her suitors... an unlikely amount of body hair, maybe? As I said, curious!)
Also, I'm glad to see some "average people" featured in a story for a change, even though they don't come out in the best light. Middle Earth must have been full of nameless, normal people like these trying to make a living, and you rarely see a story about that.
Can't wait for more!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I try to make my characters "real"--even the ones in the background. Think its my experience in community theater where the people in the "company" are just as important as the leads. I like showing the everyday; I think it just make it easier to relate to the story. As for her paternal attributes (would have been a better choice of words and I think I will go back and change it) you will have to wait a bit longer. Will post more in a day or two. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment :) ~G
This is an interesting concept... I look forward to reading more!
With the second Hobbit movie coming out soon my interest in the dwarves has peaked, and your story seems to be something beyond the plentiful Bagginshield stories I've read so far. As I said, I'm looking forward to more of it!
Author's Response: Thank you. I hope I do not disappoint (and that I can get the chapters posted in the correct order). I figured there may be an onslaught of Thorin, Fili, and Kili stories (as they are the young hawties) but there is something about Dwalin that really hit me. In this tale a blend a bit of canon with a bit of AU and it was actually spurred by something I read once...but I can't tell you now or I'll spoil the story. More to post soon and thanks again! ~H
