I really enjoyed this story! Intrigue and hilarity and... a happy ending? Yay :)
Author's Response: It's a sort of happy ending - for Glorfindel and Erestor anyway, but not so much for the monarchy who will one day lose their most precious diamonds :D I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
AH- what a happy ending and I'm so happy that they are together. Loved that rather cold aloofness that they will steal the jewels when they are ready too.
Author's Response: You know me - I do happy endings (for the most part lol). The jewels are still around so I guess the elves must still be enjoying themselves here :D Thank you for your lovely comments and I am so pleased you enjoyed the story. Fin x
An excellent ending to an excellent tale - I do love the idea of the Silmarils as the stars of the crown jewels so much.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely comments :D I am really pleased you enjoyed it. Fin xx
Hurray- Maedhros is not dead! And he's on Glorfindel's side and they're all going to live a bit longer. I really dont blame them for wanting a bit longer. As always, great fun and outrageous flirting.
Author's Response: Maglor was a liar to the end. I wonder if Maedhros knows about the killed by cheese story. I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
Oho! That's quite a collection to have around a table!!
Author's Response: Indeed. Glorfindel must have felt overwhelmed. I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
Such good fun!
“Because of your swift action, Massingberd, I would estimate that the threat of a European war has been delayed by at least ten years,” Erestor said approvingly.
Alas only nine years. Still, not a bad estimation!
I've forgotten what happened to Edward's feet! Must've been bad stuff!
Author's Response: Maglor caned Edward's feet so he would reveal the combination of the safe. I think Erestor 'forgot' to tell Edward that it was part of the plan lol I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
A fascinating 'reveal' with the unanswered questions as to just how much Erestor was doing on each side.
It is terrible of me, but I fear my abiding memory of this chapter might be poor old Edward VII complaining about his feet!
Author's Response: Erestor's right hand never knows what his left hand is doing. Poor Edward VII - I hope he got some comfy slippers for Christmas lol I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
A great yarn, Glorfindel- with your usual aplomb and whacky eccentric characters- Victoria is completly reminiscient of Oropher's bonkers mother! Erestor is wonderfully enigmatic, sexy and intellectual- and Glorifndel rather besotted I think. Enormously good fun as always.
Author's Response: I agree - Glorfindel is totally besotted. If only he would give in to his finer feelings! I am really pleased you are enjoying the story, Fin x
I do like this morally ambiguous and enigmatic Erestor. I have a feeling that Glorfindel might, too, even though he might not want to!
Author's Response: Glorfindel is fun to write - he is so straitlaced that he is prime for all sorts abuse by me and Erestor lol I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
Hehehe I have chuckled my way through the last three chapters. Queen Victoria is classic. Sooo, who is Erestor's father then...? Mmm, I guess not Maglor.... Darn, sometimes I wish I wasn't so obtuse lol
Author's Response: Erestor's father will be revealed later on in the story :D I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
too much information of any kind can have a deleterious effect upon the invalid’s imagination, causing relapses, fugue states and untoward hallucinations.
Quite right, too!
Author's Response: LOL! I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
...play our Bacchus and the naughty dryad game.
You are so going to have to write that!
Author's Response: I wouldn't dare - it is a state secret lol I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
I am laughing so hard... Queen Victoria taking out Maglor and Glorfindel at different points. How do you write exciting and hilarious all in one? And wait, is Erestor the green eyed elf from the earlier chapters? I'm highly suspicious of him! And I don't expect Maglor to stay dead! I mistrust everybody and everything :D
Special mention to death by cheese. What a way to go lol
Author's Response: Erestor is indeed the green eyed elf. Can you trust Maglor to tell the truth? Those elves are a shifty lot lol I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
Oh how I love Tiny Victoria!
Her and the death by cheese...
Author's Response: When I was researching Victoria I could not believe just how tiny she was. A bit unfortunate of Maedhros to be killed by a round of cheese and a bit unbelievable really :D I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
Oh-ho! Poor Erestor to be so memorable that Glorfindel ha forgotten his name! Now to find out if he is friend or foe.
Author's Response: Glorfindel remembered Erestor for all the wrong reasons lol I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
:O whaaat?? I was sooo excited to see you'd updated when I got home from work! This is really great, I must perforce doubt every single person now! I can't unravel the mystery, but then I could never be a detective.
Edge of your seat stuff, this. What/who is Queen Victoria?!
Author's Response: What Queen Victoria is will be revealed in the next chapter :D It is a bit of a twisty turny story, isn't it? I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
Oh-ho! Nice twist!
Author's Response: Thank you :D I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
Glorfindel, you kill me with these teasingly short chapters and cliffhangers! poor old Bunchy, but oh well! Am on the edge of my seat to find out what happens to Lord Glorfindel and who the mysterious elf is!
Author's Response: I tried to include as many cliffhangers as I could :D The identity of the mysterious elf will be revealed soon. I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
Oh dear - poor Glorfindel; things are going from bad to worse...
Author's Response: Glorfindel isn't having a good time of it :D I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
A great yarn! I'm enjoying the tone and the odd glimpses of notable characters.
Author's Response: Thank you - I nearly didn't put them in because of the amount of extra research I had to do, most of which I did not use lol I am pleased you are enjoying the story, Fin x.
And - of course, they knew the pub was in exactly the right place for the safe house...
Author's Response: Yes they did and they knew that Glorfindel would be going there. They are a slippery, but incredibly well informed lot, who like to taunt our hero, for some reason :D I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
Now there's an interesting way to try to kill someone! Curiouser and curiouser...
Author's Response: The elf is nothing short of imaginative :D I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
I am really enjoying this - I don't always comment as I sometimes read at work (horror!) and don't log in there!
I am now fascinated by guessing who this older elf is, of course. And whether Bunchy actually being held captive, or is he part of the gang.
As for Glorfindel with Catherine the Great... that must have been interesting...
Author's Response: I have to read on my phone when at work - all fanfic and social sites are blocked. The identity of the older elf will be revealed in time as will the outcome for Bunchy. I am pleased you are enjoying the story, Fin x
Now this is getting intriguing- who is the tall dark strange Elf? I Like to think Erestor because that is a bit how I see him- and I know you have a fascination for him (I think) and he is older than Glorfindel- but you can make Elves up so easily- which is the joy of fanfic. Great ideas, thoroughly enjoyable!
Author's Response: Everything hinges on the tall, dark, strange elf. His identity will be revealed in a few chapters time :D I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
So intrigued! Who was the evil and mysterious guest sashaying around?
Tea- universal panacea :D
LOL at Glorfindel's time in Russia as lover of Catherine the Great, I bet he saw some things hehe. I did have to laugh at his 'small complement of staff' and the sad state of affairs of only having a 20 bedroom house. An estate in Cornwall sounds splendid, perhaps I can get an invite some time. North or South coast?? I'm hoping North Coast, somewhere near Padstow but heck, I'll take the South with its balmy palm trees any day.
Author's Response: The evil guest will be revealed at some point :D I have no idea where Glorfindel's estate is but the house overlooks the sea and is in a remote location, possibly on a headland or spit. There would be a wide expanse of sand in a natural bay and access would be via steps cut into the cliff face. Glorfindel definitely feels as if he is roughing it now he lives in London lol I am pleased you enjoyed it, Fin x
