I must confess that I find it difficult to understand Celebrían and her part in the story of Elrond's family - difficult from an emotional point of view, not an intellectual one. But then, Elrond is my favourite character, and I feel quite defensive of him, and all his losses give me pain. This must have been so hard for him and so bitter, so I tend to see more of his side and tend to feel a bit unjust towards her, I'm afraid. Yet in your story I can understand her a little bit better, and for the first time feel more at ease with her leaving her husband and children behind.
Author's Response: Thanks! I feel that healers can heal the physical but that the mental damage for an event like this could create such suppurating scars that the mind won't allow itself to heal. Mental illness is not easily healed, even by the best healer currently practicing in Middle Earth. The Gardens of Lorien may be her only chance. I'm pleased that this small story may have helped you understand Celebrian a bit better. - Erulisse (one L)
really sad and I can understand that she does not want to confront Elrond but asking Erestor to face such a task....I want not to change place with him. I think Elrond is realist enough to undrstand even if it seals his defeat. Like this little story very much, even if I
So sad. :( And you managed to describe Celebrian's grim condition perfectly.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review. I thought I had all of my older stories up to date here, but realized last night that I was missing some from late in the year (I blame NaNoWriMo for the lapse in time). I'm catching up now. Celebrian is a difficult character. I didn't want her to be too maudlin, but felt that she was bordering on complete insanity and that her mental instability had to be a large factor in her sailing West. I'm delighted that she came across well for you :-) - Erulisse (one L)
