It would be strange watching any adaption for me, so used to fanfic, lol. I would be keep thinking of the pairings I read and scratching me head :D

I'd really love to see Celebrimbor and Annatar in the Second Age...and maybe Gil-Galad too...although it would be weird seeing him without his Istelion! ;-)

Not the Silmarillion, that would be a separate agreement if it happened at all, but the Appendices are open it seems

I'm always baffled by what is and isn't on the table, rights-wise, but if Christopher T has resigned, does that mean we could get an adaptation of the Silm (or parts of it)?

Article on The One Ring.net - Christopher Tolkien has resigned as director of the Tolkien Estate. This could change 'everything' to quote.

I got the news from his Facebook, lol, he was very excited!
11/14/17 12:38 am
Royd Tolkien just confirmed it on his twitter account. No details other than that.

I should think they'll have actors falling over themselves for this. If it's done well the fandom will go boom!

The One Ring.net is a good place to get the latest.

I found the link. It all seems very vague atm. I look forward to hearing more once they've got news on story, etc.

Actually, Spiced...with your administrator hat on, how would you feel about someone posting a fic here based on Shadow of Mordor?
10/15/17 12:46 pm [Delete] [Edit]

Like Spiced, I really enjoy watching the cut scenes - it's like someone wrote excellent fanfic and then animated it.
10/15/17 12:44 pm [Delete] [Edit]

My 21 year old stepson is here visiting and playing Shadow of War right now! He raves about it.

Luckily it's Sam's birthday soon...I know what he's getting!

Same, Narya, I don't play, but the cut scenes are excellent- I shan't spoil it for you but some of the ideas I like A LOT!

Ahh, I loved Shadow of Mordor! Never played, I just used to watch Sam. I didn't know the sequel was out :)

Kev's playing Shadow of War (Shadow of Mordor II) which is so rich and engrossing and SO fanfic it's like a film in itself

On a different note, the extended version of Fellowship is available on Prime Video - yay for Friday evenings :D I hope you've all got wonderful weekends planned.

Although my first words to him were "why do you have a glow-stick around your head?" and at the time I though blue tights were the height of cool - so who knows what he thought of me!?
10/13/17 09:24 pm [Delete] [Edit]

Haha, he will never see them! I had a huge crush on his flatmate at the time...and I describe him (hubby-to-be) as being "attractive in an intellectual sort of way, but a bit pretentious."
10/13/17 09:23 pm [Delete] [Edit]

Ooh, details please, Narya!
10/13/17 04:00 pm [Delete] [Edit]

Has he read them, Narya? Does he know how unimpressed you were??
10/13/17 05:28 am [Delete] [Edit]

Good grief, I just found my diaries from my first year at university. Currently reading about my first impressions of my future husband...safe to say it wasn't love at first sight!!
10/12/17 09:50 pm [Delete] [Edit]

Narya- it is her very best. Joyful and perfect holiday reading.
10/10/17 11:37 pm [Delete] [Edit]

Ahh, I love Annie Proulx, her prose is gorgeous, and I haven't read That Old Ace inthe Hole. So many books I want to read...!
10/09/17 11:10 pm [Delete] [Edit]

DEF Rebecca- if you haven't read it- it's like reading Jane Eyre for the first time! And Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood. For joyful read, That Old Ace in the Hole by Annie Proulx is just fab.

Yay, a Magnificat update! :D perfect Saturday treat.

Guy Gavriel Kay has been on my to-read list forever, so that's a good shout. And I don't know the Captive Prince books, so I will definitely look into those. Thank you :)

Spiced Wine
And if you have not read the Captive Prince books by CS Pascat, I think you'd enjoy them
10/07/17 10:43 am [Delete] [Edit]

Spiced Wine
And enjoyed both of them.

I really like Guy Gabriel Kay, myself. Tad Williams The Dragonbone Chair books are really good too. Though lately I read Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, (total fanfic) and Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
10/07/17 10:42 am [Delete] [Edit]

Narya have you read any of Guy Gavriel Kay's books? Tigana and the Lions of Al-Rassan are two of my favorites by him!

Dear Tolkien fans - I'm looking for book recommendations for my holidays in a few weeks. I'll give literally anything a go - poetry, fiction, non fiction, any genre. What's amazed you la

Just keep in mind, it's not as bad as crossing the Helcaraxë, much more doable! ;o) The best of luck for you, too!
